The Lacistemataceae are a plant family in the order of Malpighienartigen ( Malpighiales ). They have a purely Neotropical distribution.

Description

There are small, evergreen trees or shrubs. The leaves are arranged opposite one another and usually two lines. The stalked leaves are simple, usually with dentate or serrated leaf edge. They are small, heart-shaped stipules present.

The small, dense, cylindrical, kitten -like racemose or aged men inflorescences are axillary. Between the flower bracts are present. The small flowers are hermaphroditic and greatly reduced. There are four to six bracts present or absent. There is only one stamen available. Two or three carpels are fused into a superior ovaries. In each flower there is a pen with two to three scars. A discus is available.

Are formed dreiklappige capsule fruits that usually contain one, sometimes three, seeds, however they look like berries. The oleaginous seeds have a aril.

System

These taxa were previously classified in the Salicaceae or in the earlier family of Flacourtiaceae than Tribus Lacistemeae.

There are only two genera with about 14 ( to 27) types:
