Lacus Somniorum

Lacus Somniorum - Latin for Lake of Dreams - is a solidified lava lake on the moon, of the larger Maria similar to that of the emergence ago. The name comes from the Italian astronomer Giovanni Riccioli (1598-1671) and was officially defined by the International Astronomical Union in 1935.

The basaltic plains and irregular in outline and has a mean diameter of 384 km, an area of ​​about 70,000 square kilometers and is located in the northeast of the erdzugewandten side of the moon. The formation is connected to the southwest with the Mare Serenitatis and in the north with the Lacus Mortis.
