Ladbrokes plc is a company from the United Kingdom with headquarters in the district of Rayners Lane in Harrow. The company is listed in the financial index FTSE 250 Index and was previously listed to June 2006 in the FTSE 100 share index, ISIN GB00B0ZSH635.

Ladbrokes is the largest betting company in the United Kingdom and the largest bookmakers worldwide. Ladbrokes has over 2,700 betting shops in the UK, Ireland and Belgium.

The online offer of the company includes in many countries both sports betting and other bet offers as well as poker, casino and online games. Due to the 2008 State Treaty on Gambling held provisions the company's offer in Germany is currently limited to poker and casino games.

History

The company was founded in 1886 by Messrs Schwind and Pendleton in Ladbroke Hall in Worcestershire. The name Ladbrokes was adopted in 1902.

1956 took over Cyril Stein and Max Parker, the company. When the British government in 1961 legalized betting, stone use this to his advantage and established a betting shops chain. 1967 Stone chairman of the company and brought it to the London Stock Exchange.

It works as a sponsor of the PDC Darts World Championship since 2008. As the first bookmakers Ladbrokes offers since June 2008, a customer card, Odds ON!. Customers receive with this card via a points system free bets. The card can only be used in Ladbrokes shops.
