Ladislav Kupkovič

Ladislav Karol Kupkovic ( born March 17, 1936 in Bratislava) is a Slovak composer and conductor.

After a study from 1950 to 1961, he was for five years a member and concertmaster of the Slovak Philharmonic. The Slovakian native fled his time to Germany, where he accepted the German citizenship. He became known in 1970 for his " promenade concerts ", in which the audience could walk through the orchestra. His work now includes over 250 titles film music, two operas and numerous other sonatas and concert pieces.

He lives in Haste at Hanover and since 1978 has been professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. One of his two daughters ( Danica Kupkovic ) is an actress and teaches at the Musikhochschule in Detmold.
