Lady Ise

Ise (Japanese伊 势; * to 875 in the province of Ise, † 938 ), also Ise no Go (伊勢 の 御) and Ise no Miyasudokoro (伊勢 の 御息所, dt about " maid of honor Ise ") was a Japanese poet and concubine. She is one of 36 immortals of poetry.

Ises father Fujiwara no Tsugukage (藤原 継 荫) was governor of the province of Ise (伊 势 守, Ise no kami ) and her grandfather Ōnakatomi no Yoshinobu ( 921-991 ) was an important poet of waka tradition. Since her name is unknown, the items her father was employed as Notname. As a servant of the emperor 's wife Fujiwara no Onshi (also Yoshiko ;藤原 温 子; 872-907 ) they came to the imperial court. There Ise married the Prince Imperial Atsuyoshi (敦 庆 亲王, Atsuyoshi - shinnō ), to whom she bore three children, including the waka poet Nakatsukasa. She was also a concubine of the Japanese Emperor Uda tennō ( 867-931 ), to whom she bore a son.
