Laem Ngop District

Amphoe Laem Ngop ( Thai: อำเภอ แหลมงอบ ) is a district ( Amphoe ) of the province ( Changwat ) Trat in the east of the central region of Thailand. It lies in the west of the province.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Khlung at Chantaburi province, as well as the Amphoe Mueang Trat Khao Saming and in the province of Trat. To the south lies the Gulf of Thailand.

History

The current district Laem Ngop was established initially in 1897 as a district Ko Chang. The administration building was in Ban Dan Kao on Ko Chang. The district controlled all island Trat province. The position of the administration on the island was uncomfortable for many inhabitants of the land, therefore, the government shifted the administrative building to Ban Laem Ngop, but kept the name in. Later in 1939 the name of the circuit according to the situation of the administration has been renamed.

Management

Amphoe Laem Ngop is ( tambon) divided into four municipalities, which in turn in 25 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Laem Ngop ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แหลมงอบ ) consists of parts of the tambon Laem Ngop,
  • Nam Chiao ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล น้ำ เชี่ยว ) consists of the whole tambon Nam Chiao.

There are also three administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).

Note: The missing numbers belong to tambon which now belong to Ko Kut and Ko Chang.
