Laeva Parish

Laeva ( German: Laiwa or Laewa ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian Tartu county with an area of ​​233.18 km ². It has 881 inhabitants (1 January 2006).

Laeva was first mentioned in documents in 1295. In addition to the main town Laeva (506 inhabitants ) belong to the rural community of the villages Kämara, Kärevere, Siniküla, Valmaotsa and Väänikvere.

In the 18th and early 19th century Laeva was known for its glass production. In the community Laeva the nature reserve of the Alam- Pedja ( 7831 hectares) lies with its moorland.
