Lag is a French guitar maker based in Bédarieux (southern France )

Formation of the company

In 1978, the French rock musician Michel Chavarria decided with the help of his friend Daniel Delfour, now one of the most brilliant French violin manufacturer to open a workshop that should specialize on repairing and rebuilding electric and acoustic guitars.

In the old workshop of the grandfather of Michel, a wallpapering master, a meeting place for guitar players with bad guitars and special requests had emerged, which could adjust their instruments to specific needs and tune.

After great success and rising popularity of this workshop arose from sketches first prototype guitars with private Lag label.

Model range

In the 1990s Lag provided, among other things quite affordable, made ​​in Korea models, including the lines hotline and Rockline. However, the brand temporarily disappeared almost completely from the perception of instrument stores and mail-order, since the distribution company Music Connection, which drove the instruments since the mid- 90s, was shipwrecked. So the comeback with the models currently available was quite surprising. Although the company was never really gone, so it was almost impossible to start the new millennium, to acquire a lag guitar in German shops.

Today the plant in Bédarieux 1500 annual electric guitars and acoustic guitars are about 800 hand-crafted. The manufacturer's model range is divided into a standard and a Master Series. The models of the Master Series are located handmade and priced in the upper middle.

The standard series is made in Korea and China made ​​cheaper entry-level and mid-range models that are inspired by the design of the master models.

Electric Guitars

  • The Jet series are available as standard (high gloss lacquer), as dull and New Vintage ( with pickguard ). All models are available in different versions. They are marked with numbers. From the number, the quality can borrow, the higher the number, the better equipped the guitar. The simplest model wears 66, up it goes over 100, 200, 500 to be best equipped instrument in 1000 production models. The numbers 1000 and higher are awarded only for models from production in France.

Acoustic guitars

  • The acoustic guitars carry all the model name Tramontane, and are of a similar number system (66, 100, 200, 300, 400) as the electric guitars in quality.
