Lagarina Valley

Vallagarina, German Vallagarina, is a valley community (Italian Comunità di valle ) in the Italian Autonomous Province of Trento.

The region includes the southern section of the Adige valley in the Alps and extends from the northern border, the murazzi, a narrow few kilometers north of the village Besenello (German: Pysein ), about 10 km south of Trento to Borghetto (Eng.: Borgeth the Adige ). Capital is Rovereto (German: Rofreit ).

Through the valley run both the Brenner motorway and the Brenner railway.

In Vallagarina there are several forts, which were built in the 19th century to defend the Empire of Austria- Hungary.
