Lago di Giacopiane

The Lago di Giacopiane is an artificial lake in the Italian region of Liguria. It is located in the Valle Sturla of the Ligurian Apennines, near the town of Borzonasca. Politically, the lake lying at about 1000 meters above sea level belongs to the province of Genoa. Below the Lago di Giacopiane is the smaller Lago di Pian Sapeio.

The construction of the dam work goes back to the fascist regime of the twenties. Both reservoirs should compensate for the strong gestiegenden power consumption and also serve as a drinking water reservoir of the tigullischen tract of land and the regional capital is Genoa.
