LaGrange County, Indiana

LaGrange County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is LaGrange.

Geography

The County is located in northeastern Indiana, adjacent to Michigan and has an area of ​​1002 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: St. Joseph County and Branch County, Michigan, Steuben County, Noble County and Elkhart County.

History

LaGrange County was formed on February 2, 1832 from parts of Allen County and Elkhart County. It was named after the French home of General Lafayette, who fought in the Revolutionary War on the side of the Americans.
