Laguna Blanca National Park

The Laguna Blanca National Park (Spanish: Parque Nacional Laguna Blanca) is located in the west of the province of Neuquen, about 30 km from Zapala, in southwestern Argentina.

History

It was created in 1945 to protect the lagoon and in particular the population of black-necked swans (Cygnus melancoryphus ). It covers an area of 112.5 km ². The wetland was included because of its relevance as a habitat for waterfowl in the Ramsar Convention.

The lagoon is located in the Patagonian steppe, surrounded by hills and ravines. Near the lagoon, the Salamanca Cave, which was inhabited in prehistoric times, once by man and in the typical cave paintings of Northern Patagonia can be visited is located.
