Laguna Yema, Formosa

Laguna Yema is the capital of the department Bermejo in the province of Formosa in the north of Argentina. It is located 380 km from the provincial capital Formosa to which it is connected via the Ruta Nacional 81. In the classification of municipalities in the province it belongs to the municipalities ( municipality ) of the third category.

History

The foundation of the town took place in the course of the construction of the railway line Formosa - Embarcación in 1925.

Economy and Tourism

In the 1980s, the 14,500 -acre reservoir Laguna Yema was dammed as a water reserve. It covers the original village of Wichi chief Yema. The reservoir is used for drinking water supply and irrigation of the Región to Las Lomitas, about 78 kilometers away from the dam. Tourist he is, birdwatching and used for photo safaris for sport fishing.
