Lahan Sai District
Amphoe Lahan Sai ( Thai: อำเภอ ละหานทราย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the southern part of the province of Buriram. The Buriram province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan.
Etymology
The name Lahan Sai means in Thai "swamp hog deer ".
Geography
Neighboring districts ( from the southwest clockwise): Amphoe Ta Phraya River in the province of Sa Kaeo and Amphoe Non Din Daeng, Pakham, Nang Rong, Chaloem Phra Kiat, Prakhon Chai and Ban Kruat the province of Buriram. In the southeast, Lahan Sai borders on the province of Oddar Meanchey Cambodia.
History
The area of present-day Lahan Sai was originally a part of Amphoe Nang Rong, it was a fertile area and consisted of dense forest. That is why settlers from neighboring districts settled here. As the settlement grew, the government established on 1 January 1961, a sub-district ( King Amphoe ). The new district was at the time of the Tambon Lahan Sai and Pakham. On July 17, 1963, he was promoted to Amphoe.
Management
The county is divided into six Lahan Sai subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 95 villages ( Muban ).
There are four small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:
- Lahan Sai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ละหานทราย ) consists of parts of the Tambon Lahan Sai,
- Ta Chong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ตา จง ) consists of the whole tambon Ta Chong,
- Nong Waeng ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง แวง ) consists of the whole tambon Nong Waeng,
- Samrong Soon ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สำโรง ใหม่ ) consists of the whole tambon Samrong May
There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).
Note: The missing geocodes are among the tambon which now belong to the Amphoe Non Din Daeng, others are part of Amphoe Phra Kiat Chaloem.
