Laid Back
Laid Back is a Danish pop duo. It was established in 1979 by keyboardist Tim Stahl and the guitarist John Guldberg. Her achievements celebrated Laid Back in the 1980s and early 1990s with a popular mix of synth pop, funk and reggae elements.
Career
Maybe I'm Crazy was the first hit in her native Denmark. The breakthrough in Europe and South America managed Laid Back in the summer of 1983 with the single Sunshine Reggae. Be held in Germany alone, the song in September and October, six weeks at the top of the charts. While the single flopped in the U.S. ( published in the UK Mungo Jerry song - at the sound, he is also very heavily based ), developed the B-side Whitehorse, an antibody directed against drug song with a catchy bass line, in the local clubs hit. Later (1998) managed the American singer Monifah with a sample of the Single White Horse in her hit Touch It at # 9 of the U.S. Billboard charts.
Slightly less successful was the follow-up single High Society Girl, but at least for three weeks was in the German top ten. After that, it was relatively quiet for a few years to the duo.
It was only in November 1989 appeared the two with the single Bakerman again in the charts. In Austria, the single reached in February 1990 No. 1 on the charts and in Germany and Switzerland, the Top 10 In May 1990, the duo first made the jump into the UK Singles Chart. In addition to the catchy tune of the single also benefited the associated video that the two instruments showed her playing with a parachute jump. Director of the video was Lars von Trier.
Some compilations of their greatest hits followed in 1995 ( Laidest Greatest ) and 1999 (Sunshine reggae). 2000 the duo took his first hit again scratch.
2001 worked steel and Guldberg on the soundtrack of the feature film flyvende Farmor of directors Steen Rasmussen and Michael Wikke. For this work they were awarded the Robert, the most prestigious film award in Denmark.
In 2006, the British DJ Shaun Baker Bakerman the title along with Laid Back again.
