History

The first inhabitants were the Lajedãos " Nanuques Indios ". The first colonists arrived in the village until the 20th century. Due to agricultural development and deforestation of tropical timber a place called Sitio Pedra da Floresta arose. Due to a nearby rock the place but was then renamed to its present Lajedao. Lajedão 1962 appointed independent city. Since agriculture and cattle farming is the main source of income of the city. There is no industry and agricultural yields are dependent on weather and market policy developments.
