Lajma
Lajma is a village in the department of Oruro in the highlands of South American Andes State of Bolivia.
Location in near space
Lajma is a transportation hub in the district ( bolivian: municipality ) in the province of Cercado Caracollo. The village is located on the Bolivian Altiplano about fifteen kilometers northeast of the ridge of the Serranía de Huayllamarca at an altitude of 3729 m.
Geography
Lajma located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Andes mountain ranges, the Cordillera Occidental and the Cordillera Central in the west to the east. The climate of the region is a typical diurnal climate in which the mean values of the temperatures fluctuate throughout the day more clearly than in the course of the seasons.
The mean annual temperature of the region lies at 8-9 ° C (see climate chart Lajma ), the monthly values vary between 11 ° C from November to February and 4 ° C in July. The annual precipitation is about 350 mm, with precipitation between 50 and 90 mm fall only from December to March, in the other months, the monthly rainfall is rarely more than ten millimeters.
Traffic network
Lajma lies at a distance of 75 kilometers of road west of Oruro, the capital of the department of the same name.
From Oruro from the paved highway Ruta 1 leads north to La Paz Caracollo and five kilometers behind Oruro branches of the Ruta 31 as unpaved road to the north-west and crosses after 44 kilometers from the Río Desaguadero. From here the road 26 km runs in a southwesterly direction over La Joya by Lajma and on to Chuquichambi where the road crosses the Serranía de Huayllamarca.
In a north-south direction through Lajma a link road between the villages of Papel Pampa in the north and Villa Cruce in the south.

Due to the historically evolved population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Aymara population in the municipality of Caracollo 65.5 percent of the population speak the Aymara language.
