Lajos Koltai
Lajos Koltai [ lɒjoʃ koltɒi ] ( born April 2, 1946 in Budapest) is a Hungarian cinematographer and film director. He was known primarily for his work for the Hungarian director István Szabó.
Life and work
Koltai studied from 1965 at the Budapest theater and film school ( Színház - és Filmművészeti Főiskola ) with György Illés. Earlier in his career he was responsible for multiple films of Márta Mészáros as a cameraman. He became internationally known with the work on Mephisto, directed by Istvan Szabo. Since 1987, Koltai lives in the USA.
In 2005 he presented his first work as a director. He filmed the autobiographical novel Fateless - Fateless of the Hungarian Nobel laureate Imre Kertész.
