Lajtabánság

Lajtabánság ( in German: Leitha - Banat ) was a Hungarian Freischärlerverbänden proclaimed as independent territory in today's Burgenland. The Burgenland belonged to the Treaty of Trianon, the Kingdom of Hungary. Lajtabánság existed between leaving the Hungarian army on 4 October 1921 and ended with the occupation by the Austrian Army, which began on 13 November 1921 and was completed by the end of November. Officially, the area was passed on December 5, 1921 by Hungary to Austria.

As the end of August 1921, the Burgenland should be passed in accordance with the Peace Treaty of Trianon and Saint Germain to Austria, it was by military resistance Hungarian irregulars, who had invaded from Central Hungary, prevents, which repulsed the Austrian gendarmerie. While the regular troops of Hungary had to leave by order of the Conference of Ambassadors of the victors of the First World War, the Burgenland, but the government had no influence on the guerrillas, whose commander Pál Prónay in Felsőőr / Oberwart the Republic Lajtabánság proclaimed on October 4, 1921.
