Lakalaka

Lakalaka are ceremonial group dances in Tonga, where several hundred people may be involved. It is characteristic of the dances that the dancers most of the time stand still and make only small steps to the side to the right and left while they perform movements with the arms. Sung is both from the dancers as well as an additional chorus.

Lakalakas been recognized by UNESCO in 2003 as Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
