Lake Balanan

BW

The Balanan Lake is a lake in the south of the island of Negros in the Philippines. The lake is located near the southern coast of the province of Negros Oriental, about 5 km north of the community Siaton. Its drainage flows into the River Siaton flowing in Siaton in the Mindanaosee. From a bird's eye view of the lake has the shape of a figure eight, at its narrowest point it is only 90 meters wide. On its shores are extensive rainforests. The topography of the surrounding terrain is dominated by the mountain ranges and Lamaraw Anupugan that rise up to 1,000 meters above sea level. In January 1987, a hunting and wildlife reserve was established around the lake.
