Lake (Band)

Lake is a German -British rock band that was able to record their greatest successes in the 1970s.

Band History

The band started in 1967 in Husum with Oreste " Lilio " Malagia, Dieter Ahrendt, Gerd Beliaff, Detlef Petersen, Fritz "Freddy" Graack and Martin Tiefensee as tornadoes. At times, Hans Hartz was as the lead singer here. In 1973, she regrouped after ingestion of Ian Cussick as Lake. Following the departure of Cussick in 1974 was James Hopkins - Harrison lead singer of the band. Especially in the U.S. could Lake celebrate successes. In addition to placement on the Billboard Hot 100, they received the gold record for the album Paradise Iceland. For the debut album Lake I, there was the German Record Prize in April 1977. In the 1980s, it did not succeed in the band after many changes of formation to connect to the successes of the 1970s. In 1988, the band broke up, lead singer James Hopkins - Harrison died in 1991 from an overdose of heroin.

2003 Lake celebrated her comeback with a new cast with a Germany tour and released the album The Blast of Silence. The recording of a performance of the group in the Hamburg factory appeared in 2006 as a DVD. In 2007, Lake gave ten concerts in Germany.

In the USA, a band founded, which also bears the name Lake. Since then, the musicians found that there is already the German Lake, they write their names LAKE (corresponding to the first letter of the first names of the musicians). However, their recent, in 2008 and published in 2009 in Germany Albums wear the old logo.

2010 Lake accompanied the U.S. band Lynyrd Skynyrd as the opening act on their God & Guns tour in Germany. 2012 appeared the new album "Freedom".

Due to legal disputes with former singer Lloyd Anderson had to be withdrawn from the market the album "Freedom".

Which is promoted with a 4-week tour of Germany: In February 2014, the new album " Wings of Freedom " (Ian Cussick vocals) appears.
