Lake Buluan

The Buluan Lake (English: Lake Buluan ) is a lake on the Philippine island of Mindanao. It is located southeast of the community Buluan on the border between the provinces of Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat. The lake covers an area of 65 km ² in the southeastern part of the Central Mindanao River basin. The river forms the Buluan Hauptzu inflow and outflow of the lake. It is located in the watershed of the Rio Grande de Mindanao. The lake marks the south-eastern end of the propagation area of Ligawasan River Marsh.

The aquatile vegetation is dominated by Dickstieliger water hyacinth ( Eichhornia crassipes ), water spinach ( Ipomoea reptans ) and water lettuce ( Pistia stratiotes ).

Fish stocks are made primarily of Rohu ( Labeo rohita ), the snakehead Channa striata, tilapia ( Tilapia sp), the goby Glossogobius giurus, the carp ( Cyprinus carpio) and robbery catfish ( Clarias sp). These fish are also used for commercial fishing. The climbing fish Anabas testudineus is equally at home in the sea area such as shrimps of the genus Macrobrachium sp.

The lake was declared on 1 December 1926 Buluan Lake Game Refuge and Bird Sanctuary on an area of 63 km ².
