Lake Calhoun

The Lake Calhoun is a lake in Minneapolis and part of the Chain of Lakes. It has an area of 171 hectares and a maximum water depth of 25 meters.

Originally, the lake was called by the Dakota Mde Ma -ka- ska, meaning " lake of the white earth " means. Later, he was named by settlers " Medoza " or " Loon Lake ". In commemoration of the merits of John C. Calhoun, who was instrumental in the construction of Fort Snelling, the lake was later renamed Lake Calhoun.

Lake Calhoun is a popular recreation area with three public beaches. He offers numerous recreational activities - such as sailing, windsurfing, jogging, cycling, swimming or fishing - very good conditions, and is much visited because of its location in Minneapolis.
