Lake Claire (Alberta)

The Lake Claire is the largest lake which lies entirely in the Canadian province of Alberta.

The lake is located within the Wood Buffalo National Park and west of the Athabascasees. It is located between the two mouths of the Peace River and Athabasca River. He is part of the Peace - Athabasca Inland Delta.

The lake has a total area ( including islands ) of 1436 km ², a water surface of 1415 km ² and is situated at an altitude of 213 m.

The lake is fed by the rivers Birch River and McIvor River. In the catchment area are the two lakes Baril Lake and Lake Mamawi. The lake flows out through the Claire River to Peace River, whose water is supplied via Slave River, Great Slave Lake and the Mackenzie River to the Arctic Ocean.
