Crystal Lake is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota with 2,420 inhabitants ( 2000 census ). In the city there is the Wellcome Memorial High School, maintains relations with the school in the German city of vineyard.
Geography
The city of Lake Crystal is located in Blue Earth County on State Route 60, approximately 19 kilometers southwest of Mankato. East of the city lies the Crystal Lake, southeast of Loon Lake. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 4.6 square kilometers.
Demography
According to the census in 2000 living in Crystal Lake 2420 people in 940 households and 652 families. Ethnically, the population itself is made up of 98 percent white population, and smaller minorities.
In 34.8 % of the 980 households living children under the age of 18, 57.8 % live in married couples, and in 8.3% of live single women and 30.6 % are non family households. 26.4 % of all households were made up of individuals and 14.8% had someone living alone over 65 years. The average household size is 2.52 persons, the families of 3.08.
Based on the total area, the population is composed of 27.4 % under the age of 18, 7.9 % from 18 to 24, 28.3 % between 25 and 44 years, 18.9% between 45 and 64 years and 17.4% over 65 years. The median is 35 years. Approximately 50.7 % of the population is female.
The median income for a household is $ 39,912, a family of $ 47,143. The per capita income is $ 17,454. Approximately 5.4 % of the population and 4.5 % of families are below the poverty line.
