Lake Elsinore is a city in Riverside County in the U.S. state of California with 51 821 inhabitants ( 2010) and a size of 107.970 km ². Within the city limits is the eponymous Lake Elsinore.

Named after the Danish city of Helsingør became famous by William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet, is Lake Elsinore has grown from a small coastal town to a bedroom community.

Geography

Lake Elsinore is located in western Riverside County, California, United States. In the extreme east of the city adjacent to Menifee, in the northeast on Canyon Lake, in the southeast on Wildomar and on the south by Lake Country Village. History
