Lake Karapiro

The Lake Karapiro is a reservoir on the Waikato River in the North Island of New Zealand.

The lake near Cambridge and about 30 miles southeast of downtown Hamilton, 188 km downstream of Lake Taupo, was created in 1947 for the hydroelectric plant Karapiro Power Station. On it were the British Empire Games in 1950 and the World Championships in 1978 and 2010 instead of rowing.
