Lake Katam

The Katam Lake is one of the larger lakes in Ounianga Kebir in the Ennedi region in the northeast basin of Chad. These lakes stand out for their runs in the north-south direction headlands, formed by the trade winds. They are the remnant of a much larger lake, during the so-called Green -Saharan period, which lasted from approximately 10,000 BC to 1500 BC, filled this basin.

Hydrogeology

The Katam Lake is characterized by a complex underground exchange process, which he has in common with all the lakes of Ounianga.
