Lake Markakol

The Markakol ( Kazakh Маркаколь көлі; Russian озеро Маркаколь ) is a lake in East Kazakhstan region in Kazakhstan.

The lake is located in the east of the country near the border with China. Markakol lies at an altitude of 1447 meters above sea level. The lake is 455 square kilometers and the maximum depth is 30 meters. The Keldschir drained the lake on its west bank and flows southwest to the Irtysh.
