Lake of Two Mountains

The Lac des Deux Montagnes (literally " Lake of two mountains ") is a 150 km ² large lake in the southwest of the Canadian province of Quebec.

It is located west of the Île de Montréal in the Hochelaga Archipelago and forms the delta of the Ottawa River.

The lake has four outlets: the Rivière des Mille Îles in the Northeast and the Rivière des Prairies to the east form the Île Jésus with the City of Laval. On the northern tip of the Ile de Montréal these creeks flow together and lead shortly afterwards in the St. Lawrence River. Two arms of the Ottawa River flowing southward around the Ile Perrot in the Lac Saint- Louis, a lake in St. Lawrence River; the small height difference is overcome with one lock.

On the north shore of the lake, which is popular with sailors, there is the village of Oka and the City of Deux- Montagnes. 1612 named Samuel de Champlain lake initially Lac des Médicis, 1632 Lac des Soissons.
