The Lake Placid is an elongated lake or pond in the field of Australian city of Cairns in the district Caravonica, which is about 18 kilometers northwest of the city center on the lower reaches of the Barron River. The area is during the rainy season in the flood plain of the river. The lake belongs to the Barron Gorge National Park, which is part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland, a World Heritage area in the northeast of the continent.

Lake Placid is a tourist resort and a destination for residents of Cairns. He is the endpoint of the white water rafting in the Barron Gorge. In Lake Placid Tourist Park there are bungalows and a camping and caravan site. On weekends there also musical events. The lake is often used as a base for touring the Barron National Park or to Kuranda via Skyrail or the " Kuranda Scenic Railway ".
