Trasimeno Lake (Italian: Lago Trasimeno, Lake Trasimeno and German ) is 128 km ² and a circumference of 54 kilometers, the largest lake in the Apennine Peninsula and the fourth largest in Italy. It is located in the Umbria region northwest of Perugia 259 meters above sea level, is surrounded by high mountains up to 600 meters and is up to 7 meters deep. 18 species of fish inhabit the water. The lake is only of small streams that dry up frequently in summer, fed and has no natural drainage. The relatively sparsely populated shore region has partly verschilfte shorelines. Above the village Sant'Arcangelo is the former Benedictine Badia di Sant'Arcangelo. It was built around the year 1000 as part of a defense walls on the eastern shore of the lake.
