Lake Vermilion (Illinois)

Lake Vermilion is a four -square-mile reservoir in Vermilion County in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Illinois. It was created for the purpose of drinking water, for fishing and recreation. The lake is about five miles long and just under a kilometer wide. The nearest City is Danville - it lies at the eastern and south-eastern shore of the lake, and the nearest exit on a highway is Exit 215 of Interstate 74 south of Danville. U.S. Highway 136 runs along the eastern shore of the lake, less than a kilometer away.

Is fed the lake mainly by the North Fork Vermilion River, which joins from the north into the lake and this also leaves again in the southwest. A local road that Denmark Road runs across a causeway and a short bridge across the lake; this is one of Aqua Illinois, a subsidiary of Aqua America. On the lake, driving with boats, jet skis and water skiing is permitted, with the strength of marine engines is not limited.

The fish in Lake Vermilion include the types bluegill, carp, catfish Getüpfelter, largemouth bass, muskellunge, walleye, Pomoxis annularis, Morone chrysops Morone mississippiensis and Yellow catfish.
