Lakinsk

Lakinsk (Russian Лакинск ) is a town in Vladimir Oblast (Russia) with 15,715 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located about 30 km southwest of Oblasthauptstadt Vladimir left the Klyazma, a left tributary of the opening into the Volga River Oka.

Lakinsk belongs to Rajon Sobinka and is only about four kilometers south of the administrative center, located outside the city Klyazma Sobinka.

History

In the area of the present town is known since the end of the 15th century the village Undol. In the 18th century, when this was the estate of the family Suvorov, on which the later Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov lived from 1784 to 1786.

1869 a weaving mill was established. After the October Revolution of 1917 the factory after the murdered here Bolshevik Party functionary Mikhail Lakin ( 1876-1905 ) was named, and the associated workers' settlement accordingly Lakinski.

1927 was the place the status of an urban-type settlement and 1969 under the present name of the town right.

Economy and infrastructure

In the city there are companies in the textile ( Lakinskaja manufaktura ), furniture and food industry (including dairy giant Lakinskoje moloko ).

The town lies on the railway line opened in 1862 Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod ( station Undol; kilometer 161), runs on the day a lot of the features of the Trans-Siberian railway on its western part from Moscow.
