Lalbagh Fort

The Lalbagh Fort ( Bengali: লালবাগের কেল্লা, lālbāger Kella; Anglicized Lalbagh, dt: Fortress of the Red garden, also known as " Aurangabads fortress " ) is an unfinished fortress from the Mughal period in the Buriganga River in the southwest of Dhaka in Bangladesh.

The work was begun in 1678 under Prince Muhammad Azam during his 15 -month vice - regency Bengal. His father, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, Shaista Khan Subadar appointed as his successor. This did not continue the work on the fort, which is why they were never fully completed. The walled include a two-story conference hall (including a hammam ), a mausoleum, a mosque and a water reservoir. The fort is surrounded by about 1.30 thick walls and has three entrance gates. The central mausoleum is the favorite daughter of Shaista Khan Subadar dedicated Bibi Pari, and was not completed until 1688.
