Laleh-Park

The Laleh Park ( Park -e Laleh, formerly Park -e Farah after Farah Pahlavi Schahbanu ) is a large recreational area in the center of Tehran.

The park was created under the supervision of Farah Pahlavi on the site of the former racecourse ( Jalaliyeh ) and designed by a French garden designer. In 1966, the facility was opened.

28 of a total of 35 ha of the area are pure green area. In the southeast of the park, a Japanese garden (2.5 hectares) with a river landscape, a chess game, children's playgrounds, sports facilities and the sculptures of the scholar Omar Khayyam and Aburihan Biruni.

As part of the program for the construction of children's and youth libraries of the Kanun -e Parvaresh the first, which was designed by Farah Pahlavi of Iran Children's Library was opened here also. Also, a puppet theater was established.

In the immediate vicinity of the park are several cultural institutions, including the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the Iranian Carpet Museum, the University of Tehran and the Ministry of Agriculture. At its northern edge, the Laleh Hotel, formerly the InterContinental is situated. Near the park there are also cafes, fast food outlets, shopping malls and designer boutiques, especially in the Valiasr Street.
