Lalleyriat

Lalleyriat is a commune in the French department of Ain, in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Lalleyriat is located 825 meters above sea level. M., about ten kilometers northwest of the town of Bellegarde -sur -Valserine (air line). The farming village extends in the Haut- Bugey, in the Jura, on a Verebnungsfläche at the northern foot of the Grande Montagne, south of the deep cluse de Nantua, a Quertals by the Jura chain.

The area of ​​15.25 km2 municipal area includes a portion of the southern French Jura. The northern part is occupied by the cluse de Nantua that is drained by the Combet east to Semine. The cluse de Nantua forms a transverse valley, stretching from Nantua to the catchment area of ​​the Valserine by the chains of the high Jura.

From the transverse valley, the municipality's area extends southward over a thickly forested and partially traversed by bands of rock escarpment on the adjacent plateau of Lalleyriat. A further step in the terrain leads south to the partially wooded, lined partly with willow Jura plateau de Retord on the heights of the Grande Montagne ( 1204 m above sea level. M. ) and the Cret de Beauregard ( 1249 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation of Lalleyriat ). The eastern boundary is marked by the deep erosion valley of Tacon, a further influx of Semine.

To Lalleyriat include the hamlet of Le Burlandier (540 m above sea level. M. ) on Combet in the cluse de Nantua as well as some individual farms. Neighboring communities of Lalleyriat are Charix and Saint- Germain- de -Joux in the north, Châtillon -en- Michaille in the east, Le Grand- Abergement in the south and Le Poizat in the West.

History

It is first mentioned in the 12th century Lalleyriat as a basic property of the monastery Nantua. In the 13th century, the village became part of the dominion of the Thoire -Villars and came up with this 1402 under the suzerainty of the Counts of Savoy. The Treaty of Lyon Lalleyriat arrived in 1601 to France. To a field change occurred in 1827, when the village of Le Poizat Lalleyriat separated and was elevated to the independent community.

Population

With 248 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Lalleyriat one of the small communities of the department of Ain.
