Lamaze technique

Lamaze is a US-based organization, which campaigns for a gentle birth.

The company was founded in 1960 as the American Society for Psychoprophylaxis in Obstetrics, then called ASPO / Lamaze and was eventually renamed Lamaze International Inc.

The name goes back to the French obstetrician Dr. Fernand Lamaze, who on a trip to the Soviet Union discovered the psychological midwifery in the 1950s.
