Lambert conformal conic projection

The Lambertian Conformal Conic projection was developed in 1772 by Johann Heinrich Lambert and is one of the most famous card network designs. She is a conformal conic projection in normal position with two intersection circles between sphere or ellipsoid and cone. This distortion reproduced circles of latitude are called standard parallels.

Some cards in aviation are Lambert cards, such as the ICAO VFR chart for visual flights or IFR charts for IFR flights in the mid-latitudes. In contrast cards are mainly used in Mercator projection in seafaring. The International map of the world uses the Lambertian projection.
