Lambert van Haven

Lambert ( born 16 April 1630 in Bergen ( Norway); † May 9, 1695 in Copenhagen) of Haven was as a painter and architect in Copenhagen, as well as general builder and inspector of all art collections of the Danish King Christian V.

Life

Lambert of Haven was the son of originating from Stralsund portrait painter Salomon Haven ( † 1670 ), adopted by 1625, as a citizen in 1633, had settled in Bergen. Lambert's brother Michael Haven ( † ca 1683) was a portrait painter and drawing teacher at the Soro Akademi and later in Frederiksborg. The son Lambert, Peter Nikolaj Haven († turn of the year 1761/62 ) was used as a medalist and engraver Inspector of Copenhagen coin.

Lambert of Haven was by King Frederick III. promoted by Denmark and Norway in his training. Together with his brother Michael, he was sent to Italy. His job was in addition to the training in the classical architecture of the acquisition of new works for the collections of the Royal Court in Copenhagen. In the years 1668/69, he earned so for the royal house of 69 paintings, mostly in Rome and Venice. After his return in 1670 he was appointed in 1671 to the General builder. Under his leadership, the new city gate Noerreport (1670 ), which was demolished in 1856, which is also not preserved Blue summerhouse in the park of Rosenborg Castle and the local commander apartment made. Christiansborg Palace received by him 1674/75 the gatehouse and extensions. His main work is considered the Church of the Redeemer, whose worm tower was, however, only 1747/50 added by the architects Laurids de Thurah. Because of the poor ground, the building of the church from 1682 to 1696 for the consecration departed shortly after Havens death.

As administrator of the royal art collections and administrators of Frederiksborg Castle Lambert was responsible Haven also the equipment. Its equipment of the gallery and the audience hall remained undamaged at the palace fire of 1859.
