Lamborghini Jalpa

The Lamborghini Jalpa 3500 is a sports car of Italian car manufacturer Lamborghini, production of which began in 1982. He is the successor of the Lamborghini Silhouette.

History

It was designed by Giulio Alfieri, the former technical director of Maserati. In contrast to the silhouette while the rear end Jalpa was much neater and also the wheel arches were expanded. Against a high charge even a rear wing was available for the Jalpa. The Targa roof of the silhouette was retained. The acceleration of the Jalpa was not very satisfactory, because the Ferrari 328 Quattrovalvole was with 199 kW ( 270 hp) better motorized and the 170 kW (231 hp) Porsche 911 was much easier with 1210 kg, so that both the Jalpa which drove the acceleration duel. By the end of production 1988 420 copies were produced.

Popular culture

The movie Rocky IV (1985 ) contains a concise scene in which the main character played by Sylvester Stallone a black Lamborghini Jalpa drives through a nocturnal Philadelphia. The scene is exemplary for the upcoming mid-1980s, and especially by Miami Vice become popular music video -like aesthetics in film and television.
