Lament of the Lamb

The song of the Lambs (Japanese羊のうた, Hitsuji no Uta ) is a manga by Kei Toume, which served as a template for a real film of 2002 as well as for an anime OVA. The author tells the story of the young Kazuna who is confronted with a terrible family secret. The relatively brittle character style captures the atmosphere of this one act.

Action

The 17 -year-old student Kazuna Takashiro grows with his uncle Eda, an old friend of his father, on. Kazunas mother died when the boy was 3 years old, and while his father took care of Kazunas sister, the boy ended up in the family Eda. Accordingly, the boy also has barely memories of his family. Lately, however, he always feels limp and also has dreams of his childhood. When he felt the need to re- visit the house where the boy lived with his parents, he meets his one year older, sister Chizuna. She tells him that her father is dead and she now lives again in the house. Chizuna also revealed to him the family secret that wanted to hide from him Kazunas parents. The Takashiros suffered for generations under a genetic blood disease. Your body has to be supplied from the outside blood regularly. However, the worst is their lust for blood, which has led many family members in the delusion. Also Chizuna is drawn since childhood by this blood lust, but hopes this with the help of the doctor Minase ( an old friend of her father ) to get a grip. And Kazuna, previously spared, the disease is now beginning to break out.

Publication

The manga was first published in January 1996 in the Japanese manga magazine Comic Burger at the Scholar -Verlag. After the adjustment of the magazine The Song of the lambs from November 2002, published in comic magazine of Birz Gentosha -Verlag. One end of the series finally found in 2003. The story was also published in seven paperback books. Both in the U.S. ( under the title Lament of the Lamb) as well as in Germany the manga is published by Tokyopop.
