Lamoille County, Vermont
Lamoille County is a county located in the state of Vermont in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Hyde Park.
Geography
The county has an area of 1201 square kilometers, of which 7 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Orleans County, Caledonia County, Washington County, Chittenden County and Franklin County.
History
Lamoille County was formed on October 26, 1835 from parts of Chittenden County, Franklin County, Orleans County and Washington County.

According to the census of 2000, there were 23,233 people in the county. There were 9,221 households and 5,984 families. The population density was 19 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.31 % White, 0.33 % African American, 0.45 % Native Americans, 0.37 % Asian American, 0.03 % Pacific Islander, and 0.12 % percent from other ethnic groups; 1.39% were descended from two or more races. 0.77 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.
Of the 9,221 households out of which 32.00 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 51.40 % were married couples living together, 8.90% had a female householder with no husband. 35.10 % were non-families. 25.00% of all households and 8.10% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.94.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 24.30 % under the age of 18, 10.00 % from 18 to 24, 29.90 % from 25 to 44 years, 24.50 % between 45 and 64 years and 11.40% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 100.10 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.30 males.
The median income for a household was $ 39,356, and the median income for a family was $ 44,620. Males had a median income of $ 30,848, women $ 24,444. The per capita income was $ 20,972. 9.60% of the population and 6.40% of families are below the poverty line. 10.70% of those under age 18 and 8.50% were 65 years or older.
