Lamu Archipelago

The Lamu Archipelago in the Indian Ocean on the north coast of Kenya. The archipelago consists of the islands of Lamu, Pate, Mande and belongs to the Kenyan Lamu District in the Coast Province. Besides the three larger islands to the Lamu Archipelago includes some smaller islands like Kiwayu and Manda Toto. The most important place of the Archipelago, Lamu Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The history of the embossed by the Swahili Society archipelago is connected through trade with Arab and Portuguese merchants.
