Bogota airport

LAN Colombia, previously AIRES is a Colombian airline based in Bogotá and based on the Bogota airport. It is a subsidiary of the LATAM Airlines Group.

History

Aires Colombia, last AIRES ( for Aerovias de Integración Regional Aires SA) was established in 1981 and commenced operations on February 23, 1981. Originally the headquarters of the company was in Ibagué. The first aircraft that were used were Embraer EMB 110

In October 2010 it was announced that AIRES would be taken by the Chilean LAN Airlines and the medium term rise in the new LATAM Airlines Group.

In September 2011 the first engine of AIRES received the painting of the new parent company LAN, since December 5, 2011, the Company occurs under its new name LAN Colombia on the market.

Since October 2013 LAN Colombia is about her mother LAN is an affiliate member of the oneworld airline alliance.

Destinations

LAN Colombia performs both regional and international scheduled flights as well as national cargo flights.

The fleet consists of LAN Colombia with as of July 2013, 21 aircraft:

  • 06 Airbus A320 -200 ( operated by LAN Airlines )
  • 05 Boeing 737-700
  • 10 Bombardier Dash 8Q -200

Incidents

  • On the morning of August 16, 2010, a Boeing 737-700 of the former AIRES had been flown by a lying low landing on the island of San Andrés against a 49 meters before the runway embankment. The machine broke out in several parts. There were 125 passengers and 6 crew members on board. Two of the passengers died and 9 suffered serious injuries.
