Lance Blanks

Lance Blanks ( born September 9, 1966 in Del Rio ) is a retired American professional basketball player. He played on the position of the point guard and was drafted in the NBA Draft 1990, 26 out of the Detroit Pistons. Most recently, he was general manager of the Phoenix Suns.

College

Blanks attended the University of Texas at Austin. There was playing for the Texas Longhorns. Together with his teammates Travis Mays and Joey Wright they were known under the name of BMW Scoring Machine. In the 1989-1990 season they reached the Elite Eight in the NCAA.

NBA

In the NBA Blanks played two years for the Detroit Pistons and one year for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored an average of 2.0 points per game and reached the playoffs twice.

Basketball league

In the season 1994/95, Blanks played for the MTV casting. He averaged 16.45 points per game.

Scouting / General Manager

Blanks was from August 2010 to April 2013 General Manager of the Phoenix Suns. Previously, he spent five years as co-general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Previously, he worked for the San Antonio Spurs as a scout and was appointed in September 2002 as Director of Scouting. In addition, Banks worked in the 2004-2005 season as a television analyst for the Spurs.

Personal

Blanks father is former AFL / NHL player Sid Blanks and his cousin Larvell Blanks played in the MLB.
