Lance Whitaker

Lance Whitaker (* May 29, 1972 in Granada Hills, California) is a boxer (nicknamed Mount, later Goofi ). He is very slow and phlegmatic, but it has grown in size and clout.

Amateur career

In 1994 he won the U.S. Championship in Super Heavyweight. At the Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg the same year he won the silver medal and defeated it in the final Alexei Lesin, at the Pan American Games in 1995 in the Argentine Mar del Plata, he finished in this weight class third place. After he failed in the national qualifications for the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, he joined the professional camp.

Professional career

Lance began his professional career in July 1996. March 6, 1999, he boxed against Lou Savarese and lost just by points, but Savarese was doing on the ground.

A few months later he pushed against Monte Barrett and defeated him after controversial points, his only significant point victory. He was able to win against the then-undefeated Robert Davis and Oleg Maskajew by knockout and break into the rankings of Ring Magazine. Then he pushed against Cliff Couser said he inflicted the first defeat ko.

But in the next fight, he was brought as a favorite Jameel McCline and lost convincingly on points. Even against Ray Austin he could only draw boxes, in the fight against Friday Ahunanya he lay back on points but still won by happy discontinuation due to an eye injury.

In 2005 he went to the World Cup qualifying contest the WBO against Luan Krasniqi and went in the sixth round knockout. Even against Sultan Ibragimov he lost prematurely.

His trainer Joe Goossen is a former coach of Mike Tyson.
