Lanchester 6x4 Armoured Car

The Lanchester 6x4 Armoured Car, was built for the British army in 1928 armored car of the Lanchester Motor Company of Birmingham.

History

A total of thirty-nine vehicles of the series were originally produced. A later version had a higher turret and improved armament. The wheeled tanks had very good off-road capabilities. Highlighted Pungent was its three axes, two of which were directly driven. He had a certain similarity to the 1914 Rolls- Royce armored car developed.

A special feature of the Lanchester was a rear -mounted steering wheel, with the armored car could be controlled when reversing. There were further developments of the vehicle which have been named with the additions Lanchester Armoured Car II IA and IIA.

The vehicle came among others at the 11th Hussars (Prince Albert's Own) and the 12th Royal Lancers ( Prince of Walse 's ) are used.
