Geography

Landensberg lies in the Danube-Iller region. The municipality is located on the western edge of the wood angular mentioned landscape that forms the northern part of the Natural Park Augsburg Western Woods. There are the following places and districts: Glöttweng and Landensberg.

Neighboring communities

In the north the municipality borders the municipality of Paderno, on the south by the municipality Jettingen -Scheppach, in the west on the community Röfingen and to the northwest by the municipality Haldenwang. To the east and southeast of the municipality borders the municipalities located in the district of Augsburg Altenmuenster and Zusmarshausen.

History

Landensberg is a clearing settlement. From the 15th until the 17th century the place was part of the rule Konzenberg belonging to Austria Margraviate of Burgau. With the peace treaties of Brno and Bratislava in 1805 the site became part of Bavaria.

Incorporations

On April 1, 1971, the previously independent community Glöttweng was incorporated.

On the territory of the municipality were 1970 526, 1987, 616 and 2000 counted 708 inhabitants in the year.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms is divided longitudinally and the right shows a griffin on a silver background, left a white rose on a tree stump on a blue background. The symbols are taken from the coat of arms of local noble family of Seida.
